How to accept bitcoins and other Cryptocurrencies in WooCommerce

Overview

Cryptocurrencies are one of the most hyped payment systems all over the internet and everyone wanna use them. Today we are going to learn how we can enable crypto-based payment on woo-commerce websites. It’s very easy to do and only takes a couple of minutes to do so.

Cryptocurrencies payment getaway

We are going to use Coinbase as our payment getaway in this tutorial. Coinbase is one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges globally. They support a wide variety of coins including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Lite coin, Bitcoin Cash, and etc. And implementation of this payment getaway is very easy.

We can enable payments in just 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Create an account on Coinbase

Go to Coinbase’s official website and signup for a new account. Creating a new account is very easy they only require your email address and password.

After verifying your email you need to use google authenticator for 2 step verification of your account.

After that, you will set up your wallet and see your catchphrase you must save this catchphrase somewhere very safe, and if you lose it you may lose all the money from your wallet.

Now your Coinbase account is created and you are ready to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

Step 2: Install Coinbase plugin on WordPress

Go to your WordPress plugins option and click on “Add New”

Search for the “Coinbase Woocommerce” you will see the official Coinbase plugin, install and activate the plugin.

Step 3: Link Coinbase to your WooCommerce website.

Now, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments make sure Coinbase is enabled and click on manage.

It will open the Coinbase settings page where you can configure your Coinbase settings for payments.

Now go to your Coinbase account and open the settings page. Navigate to API key and Webhooks section.

Click on “Create an API Key” and a new API Key will be generated copy it and paste it into the WooCommerece settings page.

After that in Webhook Subscription click on Add an endpoint and paste your URL which you can find in the WooCommerce Coinbase settings page as shown in the image above.

Now click on “Show Shared Secret” and copy it from there and paste it into your WooCommerece Coinbase settings page.

That’s it! Now your customers can start paying on your website using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Lite Coin, Bitcoin Cash, Dai, and USD Coin. You can choose which coin you wanna accept on the Coinbase setting page.
